We are lucky to have secured parenting and relationship expert, Dr. Karyn Gordon ,for this event. She is a regular expert for Canada’s #1 talk-show Cityline (City), USA’s #1 morning show Good Morning America (ABC), and Toronto’s #1 morning show Breakfast Television (City). In addition, she writes a regular column for New York Parenting and Chatelaine Magazines.
Most parents admit that one of their greatest desires is for their children to be more appreciative, thankful and kind to others. But when we live in a culture of immediate gratification that is ‘all about me’ – how can parents effectively teach an attitude of gratitude and empathy for others? Research tells us that empathy is a cornerstone of EQ (Emotional Intelligence), which is essential for a child’s overall happiness as well as for future career opportunities. Thankfully, empathy and gratitude are virtues and skills which can be learned – and even young kids are capable of grasping these concepts. In this keynote, Dr. Karyn teaches 10 simple things parents can do starting today to develop empathy and gratitude in their children!
This workshop is being funded through the Parents Reaching Out Grant (from the Ministry of Education) we received. We are also expecting a subsidy from the TDSB that gives us $3 for every parent / caregiver who attends. We are happy to have this support!
Please register by Friday, September 27 by completing the online form. There will be free babysitting (may be limited – register early!) and light refreshments. Workshop will be held in the school gym.
