Natural Skating Rink – Volunteers Needed

Our closest skating rink, at Hodgson PS, is in need of repairs to its cooling system as the cooling system is unsafe to use and has been permanently shut down. As a result, the rinks at Hodgson will not be open for skating or hockey this season.

Because Hodgson will be closed this winter, a natural ice rink will be put in place at June Rowlands (Davisville) Park. Volunteers are needed to help flood the natural ice rink.

A volunteer training meeting will be held this Friday, December 13, from 11 AM to 12 Noon at June Rowlands (Davisville) Park. Please meet near the near the washroom / club house building, on the Davisville side of the park. The training session will consist of showing how and where to hook up hoses, best flooding techniques, size / location of rink, and storage of hoses and supplies.

Our City Councillor Josh Matlow has prepared an FAQ about the situation with the Hodgson rink. You may read it by clicking here.
