Davisville Natural Skating Rink at June Rowlands Park
Last year our community was lucky enough to have a beautiful natural skating rink in our local June Rowlands park while the rink at Hodgeson Public School was under repair. While many residents helped flood and maintain the rink, we were also supported a great deal by the City of Toronto.
This year, with the repairs at Hodgeson complete, the City will no longer be offering support to our natural rink. However, the public response to having a rink in the park was so overwhelming that the good people at AppleTree Markets have already received permission from the City to build another one! Unfortunately, the rink can’t be built without a lot of support from volunteers. The rink needs YOU!!
Volunteers will get:
- 1 “Rink Maintenance” seminar – likely when the weather gets a bit colder;
- A maximum of one maintenance shift per week for the duration of rink season (10 weeks usually): shifts entail occasional flooding and shovelling but won’t take longer than an hour; and
- Lots of fun and enduring gratitude from your neighbours!
