Get ready for Earth Week!
In preparation for Earth Week, April 18-22, Davisville has planned several Earth-friendly activities to get both students and parents in an eco frame of mind!
April 1 – May 5: Old batteries
Bring your old batteries to school. The Davisville Eco Club is participating in the EcoKids Battery Busters Spring Cleaning Contest. Help them win by bringing in your old batteries! Important: Only single-use household batteries will be accepted; dented or powdery batteries should not be brought to school.
April 11 – May 5: Old cell phones
Bring in your old cell phones; we are collecting them as part of a cell phone recycling initiative sponsored by the Toronto Zoo to help save the Lowland Gorilla.
April 11-21: Used textiles/clothing
It’s once again time for our annual highly anticipated Bag2School and Used Clothing Sale drives!
Bag2School is a group that buys textiles by the pound and resells, reuses and recycles them, so bring in your bags of clean, dry textiles in any condition, for example, clothes, bedding, stuffed animals, purses, belts, shoes, and shoes.
We will also be holding a Used Clothing Sale drive during Earth Week. If you have gently used children’s clothing items to donate – infant to size 16 – we will put them towards the Used Clothing Sale to raise funds for School Council-sponsored activities.
Blue bags were sent home with your child to be used for the Bag2School donations, but you can also simply use any bag; just be sure to label your bags with “Bag2School” or “Used Clothing Sale”.
Please drop off old batteries and cell phones in the boxes at the front office, and drop off all bags of used clothing in the big blue bin by the school’s main entrance on Millwood Ave.
Keep an eye on this page for more information related to Davisville Earth Week events and activities. We will post new information as it becomes available, so stay tuned!
