Davisville’s annual skate night is coming up – on Friday, January 30 at Hodgson Senior School’s outdoor arena from 6:15-8:15pm. More information on that to follow… but in anticipation, the annual Davisville Skate Exchange has begun.
This exchange works the same way as our FreeCycle works: if you have outgrown or unused skates, please donate them; if anyone needs skates, they are free to take.
If you have any outgrown skates and/or CSA approved helmets, please drop them off between now and January 6. There will be bins set up by the front office to collect the donated skates. Our principal and vice-principal have offered to take the skates collected and have them sharpened.
From January 19th up until skate night on the 30 we will have them on tables for your perusal.
To parents of children who are currently in grade 3 or grade 6 that are interested in the extended French program:
The application period for the Extended French program opens today, January 5, 2015, and closes on January 29, 2015. Registration is for entry in September 2015.
Applications to the Junior Extended French program are made the year your child is in Grade 3 for entry in September of Grade 4. The Grade 4 application is an entirely online process, done on PARS. The application for the Grade 7 Extended is a paper process. Information is posted on the TDSB French Programs page.

Monday was the deadline to sign up for the next session of Foodshare, which will run from January to March 2015.
We have extended the deadline to Friday, December 19 (tomorrow!) to get in last minute forms.
We did not send out a hard copy of the form this time, so if you require a form please go the Forms Page print off a copy, fill it in and hand it to your child’s teacher ASAP!
The next session will begin on January 7, 2015 and will run every Wednesday until March 4, 2015.
2014 is barely wrapped up, and we are already looking ahead to the new year…
There will be lots of after-school and lunch-time programs on offer again at Davisville starting in January 2015. For information on which programs will be held on which dates and how to register for these programs, we have created a new extra-curriculars page (under the “links’ tab) with all the information you need.
The City-run Parks and Rec registration is now open for several new winter programs:
- Yoga: Monday (ages 4-5), Wednesday (ages 6-8), and Friday (ages 9-11)
- Basketball: Mondays (ages 9-11)
- Jump and Play: Wednesdays (ages 4-6)
- Ball hockey: Fridays (ages 6-8)
- Indoor Soccer: Saturdays (ages 6-8)
- Ballet: Saturdays (various programs ages 3-8)
Designher Co. will also be returning to Davisville, this time with a brand new knitting program!
Information about other activities will be added as we confirm the programs. Look for more information about registering in the new year.
Tomorrow night, Friday, November 7th, is the Davisville PS Parent Pub Night!
All parents in the school community are invited (urged!) to come out for an evening of fun with our community of families. This year we will be holding an Adult Spelling Bee! Come take part and show off your fabulous spelling skillz, or just come cheer on your friends!
The pub night will be held at the Bull and Firkin, 1835 Yonge St (one block south of Davisville Ave). We will be in the back area by the pool tables. Come by anytime from 7:00pm onwards.
This is a fundraiser put on by the school parent council. A suggested door donation of $20 will help fund more great programs and activities for our kids.
