Hundreds of staff, students and parents, present and past, returned to Davisville PS on Saturday, October 22, 2011, to walk the halls, visit old classrooms and share memories with long-lost friends. The school welcomed alumni from all decades, including many graduates from the 1940s. Trustee Shelley Laskin and Councillor Josh Matlow also attended the event to help celebrate the school’s rich history and its special place in the neighbourhood.
Everyone enjoyed perusing the old class photos, slide shows, and letters from Davisville graduates displayed throughout the school. These mementos will continue to be on display at the school for a few more weeks and parents are encouraged to stop by and check them out.
The anniversary committee is still collecting letters and stories from people connected to Davisville PS to continue to document and preserve the school’s history. If you would like to submit a letter or story, please drop it off at the office or submit it here.
A big thank you to the organizing committee and the many other staff, parents and student helpers who worked so hard to make this event such a success!
2011 is a year of celebration for our school!
Join us at the school this Saturday, October 22, from 1:00-4:00 PM as we celebrate 150 years of service to the Davisville community!
The 2010-2011 school year marked the 150th anniversary of Davisville Junior Public School and the 2011-2012 school year marks the 50th anniversary of our current school building.
As part of our celebrations, we will be holding “A Walk Down Memory Lane” this Saturday, October 22nd, 2011. Classrooms will be decorated with memorabilia from as many of the school’s past 150 years as possible.
Are you a former Davisville student or parent? Do you have photos and memorabilia you’d like to share? Please drop them off at the office during school hours. Your photos and memorabilia will be returned, if you wish, on the day of the reunion.
Our school is preparing to celebrate its 150th Anniversary!
To mark this special occasion, we need your help! We are gathering stories about the school’s history, photos of school events through the years, memorabilia and more.
Do you know an interesting story about our school? Do you have pictures or other memorabilia? Or do you know of another website that has info about our school’s history? We also need volunteers to help organize and run 150th Anniversary events.
